New Song Church is hosting a Christian Writer’s Group! The group, an outgrowth of the recent David Festival Writer’s Workshop, will meet monthly beginning in September, alternating between Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. For now, though, we will meet on Tues. June 17 at 7:00pm. The group will be a supportive, collaborative environment where people of faith feel “safe” to share their writing and be equipped and encouraged to go deeper and get better at their chosen craft. Each monthly gathering (alternating between Tuesdays one month and Wednesdays the next) will feature three elements. They are:
Read: an opportunity to discuss a portion of a book on writing we are reading at the same time.
Skill/Write: a volunteer member of the group will teach a writing skill or lead us in a writing exercise.
Share: an opportunity to read projects we are working on, with the opportunity for the level of feedback chosen by the writer. Feedback can range from Bravo! to “Here’s a thought for that second section….” We will work together to determine those guidelines. We hope you can join us. It feels like an exciting group already.
